Well, breaking a bone in his ankle might slow Lorenzo down for a while. I guess an injury was bound to come along at some point since he's pushing so hard.
April
Lorenzo is a bit surprising. It was clear he was good in 250 (but then he had a top bike), but he's showing better than I expected, in fact, the further this goes the more it's clear he's another phenomenon. Toseland is also showing better than I expected. To get the better of the WSBK regulars, it was clear he's got what it takes, but he's up the front sooner than I thought he would be.
What a save by Edwards at Valencia! And then a similar one by Hayden in the race.
The Ducati looks good, but has it improved? The others (Yamaha and Honda) have had to - otherwise it'll red face time again.
Pedrosa made the Spanish race dull - he can be too good at times.
Portugal was interesting because Lorenzo was amazing, Pedrosa was great and would Rossi have won on Michelins? Are Ducati heading for a really difficult title defence? I suspect the pundits are waiting until after China to that, but it's clear the bikes nothing like as easy to ride as the Japanese machinery. I guess we knew that from Capirossi last year, but it's a surprise to see Melandri, Elias and Guintoli so far back. They must have thought they were signing a dream deal to race for the title winners…..

It will be interesting to see how MotoGP pans out over the next few years. We seeming to be losing a team a year and are now down to 18 riders on the normal grid (without wild cards). Even F1 has 22 cars…. If costs have really risen by 300% (as I heard from somewhere) then it will probably continue to be sponsorship (or lack thereof) that drives the shape of things….
I love watching the 250 class (for obvious reasons) but it's such a shame there isn't more machine diversity. I know Yamaha say they can't afford to fund every category, but considering the amount they spend on other classes, it's difficult to believe they couldn't put together and support competitive machinery for this class.
British interest in the smaller classes of GP racing! Blimey, almost unheard of these days. Bradley Smith, Danny Webb and nnnn all look really promising too. Lets hope they flourish and are able to move through the full set of GP classes to the very top.

Carlos Checa may be a class act, but his last corner effort against Max Neukirchener was a bit unfortunate. I didn't think his post race comments (after the second race) quite gelled with what the cameras showed. It looked to me as if he lost the front and that's what took the pair down. Carlos' explanation made it sound more of a 'we touched and went down'…. There was no doubting Carlos' pace though. Great to see Haga really back on it in the second race too. I know it's early days, but Bayliss already seems to be sneaking away with it…
Again Haga was struck by poor fortune - Assen with Xaus in race 1. Ok, there might have been more to it than 'poor fortune', but you know what I mean. And with Bayliss taking the double, it doesn't bode well for the rest. For me, Checa is now looking like the 'best of the rest' to put a strong season together. He's showing good consistency and pace. Not really sure what happened to Biaggi - unless he's still injured.

Nice to see Corser really looking like he wants it - I thought he'd spent a while (a few years in fact!) in the dolldrums. May be it was the Foggy Petronas that dampened his spirit…. Lovely looking bike though.
Haga needs to get his head together - waving at people who upset him (and falling off) won't win the championship.
Difficult to tell how good the Ducati is yet - clearly Bayliss and Biaggi are both quick - but the Suzukis look quickest! May be the Yamaha will prove to be the best allround package.
